DESKTOP APP · Türkçe

Velvet, in its own window.

The Velvet desktop app opens Velvet from velvet.ltd in its own window instead of a browser tab. Your screens, projects and account are the same as on the web: the app is not a separate Velvet, it is a window onto it. Notifications, drag and drop and device pairing are planned; they are not in this first build.

Unsigned build: first launch

These builds are not signed yet, so the operating system shows a warning on first launch. If you downloaded the file from this page and its SHA-256 checksum matches the one above, you can open it with the step below. The step goes away once signed builds arrive.

macOS (Gatekeeper) — Try to open Velvet once; macOS will not open it. Then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway for Velvet. On macOS 12 the path is System Preferences › Security & Privacy.

Windows (SmartScreen) — When the installer starts, a “Windows protected your PC” window appears: More info › Run anyway.

Installation and first launch

macOS

  1. Open the DMG and drag Velvet into the Applications folder.
  2. Open Velvet from Applications (with an unsigned build, the step above is needed once).
  3. Sign in with your Velvet account: the same email and password as on the web; there is no separate account.

Windows

  1. Run the installer; it installs WebView2 if it is missing.
  2. Open Velvet from the Start menu.
  3. Sign in with your Velvet account: the same email and password as on the web; there is no separate account.

To verify the file, take its checksum and compare it with the SHA-256 on this page:

  • macOS (Terminal) shasum -a 256 Velvet-…-mac.dmg
  • Windows (PowerShell) Get-FileHash Velvet-…-win-x64-setup.exe
