Characters, locations and reference management

The visual memory of your story.

Keeping the same character, location or prop recognisable across shots needs the right references. Velvet keeps that production knowledge in the project context.

VISUAL PRODUCTION

The moving answer to visual decisions.

Judge the reference, the motion and the visual language of the shot together.

What exists today

Candidate characters and locations can be derived from the script. There is groundwork for uploading reference files, copying them and following where they are used. These are foundations, not a finished continuity system.

How is character consistency achieved?

Reference images, production inputs and the team's own review work together. The result depends on the chosen model and flow; consistency across different shots is not guaranteed.

Why separate the performer from the character?

A performer is a real person; a character is a role in the story. The same performer may play several roles and the same character may appear at different ages — keeping them apart keeps the references honest.

How will variants be handled?

Controlled variants are the goal for age, costume, colour, period and set layout. Which references a variant carries and which scenes it belongs to has to stay readable.

How should a team begin?

Run a pilot with one character and a few shots. Record the references used, the model version and the results. Judge production quality on your own project rather than on a claim.
